全美悼念貝拉 (Yogi Berra) 歐巴馬:你的資產永流傳

一代名捕尤基貝拉昨天結束90年璀璨人生,他生前的風範、滿是哲理的語錄,溫暖了美國超過半世紀。而今,全美悼念他,美國總統歐巴馬真摯的說:「全美都會想念你的,你的資產永流傳。」

今天,所有大聯盟球場、30支球隊,都有緬懷貝拉(Yogi Berra)的行動。每場賽事開打前為他默哀,他的洋基隊小老弟們都在球衣的左袖繡上永遠的「8」號圖樣;紐約帝國大廈在夜裡亮起象徵洋基隊的藍光,來懷念一代傳奇。

篤定進入名人堂的前洋基隊長吉特,球員生涯得到許多來自貝拉的啟發,吉特黯然的說:「他是摯友,更是神話!」

1950年代洋基傳奇捕手尤基貝拉昨天辭世。他曾3度獲選美聯最有價值球員,10次幫助洋基贏得世界大賽冠軍,總教練生涯也有3冠。他那句「比賽結束之前都還沒結束」(It aint over till its over),早已成全美的箴言。

貝拉19年球員生涯參加過14次世界大賽,10度奪冠,兩項都是大聯盟難破的障礙。他生涯18次入選明星賽、2150安、358支全壘打;他在1956年和拉森搭檔,攜手完成世界大賽史上唯一一場完全比賽,至今仍是傳奇一幕。

1956年引退的貝拉,在1972年以85.61%的得票率進入名人堂,洋基也在當年將他的8號球衣引退。這些年,仍常見貝拉協助洋基小老弟們,去年退休的洋基隊長吉特就屢屢向他請益。
